Pantone has released the colors that will be trending in 2022: ‘Very Peri’! In today’s post, learn more about the chosen color and find out how to explore them in jewelry!
PANTONE
The North American Pantone conquered its definitive place in the world of design in 1963, when it developed its numerical system of colors that, known today as the Pantone scale, registers more than 13 thousand shades. Because of that, designers from all over the world and from various areas of fashion can accurately point out which color they want for their creations.
About 20 years ago, Pantone began to define the color of the year. The company has specific departments that study shopping habits and designers’ creations, which are being used in the entertainment industry and on the streets. Then, after compiling reports throughout the year, figure out which tone will have the biggest presence in the coming year.
Pantone names ‘Very Peri’ as colour of 2022
The Pantone Color Institute has introduced ‘Very Peri’ – a periwinkle blue hue with a violet-red undertone signifying courage and creativity – as colour of the year for 2022.
The new colour effectively melds the “faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red,” according to Pantone. The colour is also described as “the happiest and warmest” of all the blue hues – signalling confidence and curiosity.
“As we move into a world of unprecedented change, the selection of Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue colour family,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director, Pantone Color Institute. “Encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time possessing a violet-red undertone, Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.”
According to Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, the Pantone Color of the Year reflects global developments and cultural changes and helps express people’s desires. For 2022, Pantone created a new colour – a first in the history of the colour of the year programme – to signal global innovations and transformations.
“As society continues to recognise colour as a critical form of communication and as a way to express and affect ideas and emotions and engage and connect, the complexity of this new red-violet-infused blue hue highlights the expansive possibilities that lie before us,” added Pressman.
Very Pery and the Brazilian Amethyst
The launch of the color of the year has a big impact on the fashion world, and of course, in the world of jewelry and gemstones.
In line with 2022 trends, we chose amethysts mined in the southern region of Brazil. All the gemstones from Rio Grande do Sul State mix the colors blue and red, generating the perfect violet tone desired by VERY PERY from Pantone. The interesting thing is that specifically the amethysts produced in Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, in addition to being natural, is free of any type of treatment and even so reach the long-awaited shade of violet desired by PANTONE. Could it be that Pantone was inspired by Brazilian Amethysts?
For now, we have carefully selected our most beautiful pieces produced with beautiful amethysts, for you who like to be always connected to new trends and want to guarantee with exclusivity, the jewelry and the gemstones that will give the “Very Peri” touch to the compositions of your looks.
